Frequently Asked Questions - Licensing
Planet Bonehead's DVD series is protected by US Copyright laws, which are designed to help content creators like us to get properly compensated for our work. A lot of research and talent goes into each Planet Bonehead episode, and we're eager to create more.
We designed our licensing program for several different levels, depending on the intended use and the relative size of the audience. See the next question to help you determine which license is right for you.
We've developed 4 separate licenses depending on the intended use of our DVD products. Our product was designed for schools, libraries and nature centers to use in classroom settings and public exhibits. We also realize that many individual teachers, home schoolers and families will want their own copies, and do not need expensive licenses.
Single Classroom
We are offering this license for the individual teacher or home schooling parent who wants to use our DVDs for educational purposes. With this license, you get a DVD and a downloadable Educators Resource Kit. You may use the DVD in one classroom only.
School Building
This license is for school administrators and teachers who wish to use the DVD in several classrooms and/or a school library. With this license you get our DVD and a full-color printed Educators Resource Kit.
Museum Exhibit
This license is for museums and nature centers to display our DVD episode in public exhibits. With this license you get our DVD and a full-color printed Educators Resource Kit.
Home Viewing
This license is for anyone who wants a DVD for use in the home for entertainment. With this license, you get a DVD which may be viewed at home only. This license does not include an Educators Resource Kit.
Schools
A school district will need to order one DVD with School Building license for each building. The license covers each building including the school library. So a school district with 5 schools will need to purchase 5 School Building licenses. Additional DVD copies may be purchased for circulation within a licensed school building.
Museums and Nature Centers
A museum or nature center will need to purchase 1 DVD with the Museum Exhibit license for each exhibit or public presentation the DVD will be used in. Additional DVD copies may be purchased without duplicating the license fee.
Teachers
Teachers and home schoolers who are purchasing a DVD for their own classroom use need only 1 Single Classroom license per episode. For teachers or schools that require the DVD used in more than one classroom, we require that the School Building license be purchased instead of additional Single Classroom licenses.
Home Viewing
The Home Viewing license may be used for additional copies needed within any other license. For example, if a school need 3 copies of a DVD for use in one school building, they need to buy 1 School Building license, and 2 additional Home Viewing copies. The license needs to be purchased only once per building, not per DVD copy.
